A new edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place this month. Several New Zealand stars will take part in the IPL with 10 teams. New Zealand Cricket will give its cricketers a chance to participate in the IPL. Therefore, New Zealand Cricket has announced the squad for the white-ball series against the Netherlands without the 12 star cricketers contracted in the IPL.
New Zealand are not getting the team’s main players in this series at home. New Zealand Cricket has announced the squad for a T20I and a three-match ODI series. In the absence of stars, all-rounder Michael Bracewell and keeper-batsman Dan Cleaver have been called up to the national team for the first time. However, Bracewell is in two teams and Cleaver has been retained only in T20Is.
Kiwis do not have regular captain Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Mitchell Santner, Devon Conway, James Neeshamra for the IPL. Tom Latham will lead the team in place of Williamson.
The only T20I match will be played in Napier on March 25. The ODI series starts on March 29. The ODI series will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
