Islamabad United ended their three-match losing streak with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League on Wednesday. Colin Munro and Alex Hales formed a formidable opening partnership, with Munro’s explosive 82 off 47 balls and Hales’ steady 47 guiding United to a total of 169 for 3 in 18.3 overs. This win marked their second victory in the season.
Karachi Kings struggled in their first home game on a slow pitch, managing to post a total of 165 for 5. Kieron Pollard’s unbeaten 48 boosted their score, earning them four points with two wins and two losses.
Hales, back after missing the previous game due to a family commitment, strengthened United’s batting lineup. Munro, scoring his second consecutive half-century, dominated both pace and spin, forming a match-winning 108-run partnership with Hales.
Munro’s aggressive play included eight fours and four sixes, with a highlight being three successive sixes off Tabraiz Shamsi’s first over. Mohammad Nawaz dismissed Munro, but Agha Salman (25 not out) and two big sixes from Hasan Ali sealed the victory.
In their innings, Tim Siefert and Leus du Plooy showed aggression but fell to Salman, Imad Wasim, and Naseem Shah’s bowling. Pollard and Irfan Khan counterattacked in the last five overs, securing a competitive total.
United, previously facing defeats against Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators, and Peshawar Zalmi, now sits in fourth place on the table with four points.
