MS Dhoni, the former captain of India and current skipper of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), humorously explained why he chose the number seven for his jersey. He shared that it’s the day his parents decided he would be born on Earth, as he was born on the 7th of July. For Dhoni, who captained India to World Cup triumphs in 2007 and 2011, the number seven has particular meaning. In recognition of his contributions, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) retired the No. 7 jersey in December 2023. Known for his sharp tongue, Dhoni disclosed this at a recent promotional event, demonstrating his carefree demeanor.. Widely acknowledged as one of the greatest white-ball cricketers, Dhoni, from Ranchi, achieved fame for his explosive batting and is celebrated as one of the game’s premier finishers. He participated in 350 One-Day Internationals for India during his stellar career, amassing 10,773 runs at a 50.57 average. Dhoni, who also featured in 90 Tests and 98 T20Is, captained India to the 2013 Champions Trophy victory. As he prepares for the upcoming IPL edition, Dhoni, at 42, continues to hone his skills after leading CSK to their fifth title triumph in 2023.
