The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed former South African cricketer Albie Morkel as the ‘power-hitting coach’. BCB’s cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed the development on Tuesday.

Morkel has been appointed for the ODI series against South Africa. Jalal Yunus said: “He (Morkel) is a very experienced cricketer.

I am confident that our batters will benefit from his coaching. ’
Two weeks ago, Bangladesh appointed Morkel’s compatriot Allan Donald as the bowling coach. The team also has South African Russell Domingo as its head coach. No one doubts Albie Morkel’s power-hitting ability. He has a strike rate of over 100 in ODIs and International T20Is.

Morkel has played one Test match for South Africa. There too his strike rate is 81.69. He also has a strike rate of 100.26 in ODIs and 142.29 in international T20Is. The left-handed batter has also won the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a huge six in the Chennai Super Kings jersey.
