Mominul Haque, long celebrated for holding the record for the most Test centuries by a Bangladeshi, has now earned a less desirable title. The left-hander has set the record for the most ducks in Test cricket for Bangladesh.
Previously tied with Mohammad Ashraful at 16 ducks, Mominul surpassed him during the first day of the Test against the West Indies in Jamaica, when he was dismissed without scoring. This puts Mominul in the unique position of holding both the record for the most centuries and the most ducks in Test cricket for his country.

In 128 innings, Mominul has been dismissed for a duck 17 times, while Ashraful managed 16 ducks in 119 innings. Close behind, Mushfiqur Rahim, Khaled Ahmed, and Taijul Islam are tied for third with 13 ducks each, though Khaled reached the tally in just 26 innings compared to Mushfiqur’s 174 and Taijul’s 86. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has 12 ducks, while Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, and Khaled Masud each have 11.
Globally, the record for most ducks in Test cricket belongs to Courtney Walsh, with 43. Stuart Broad follows with 39, Chris Martin with 36, and Glenn McGrath with 35. Among specialist batsmen, Sri Lanka’s Marvan Atapattu leads with 22 ducks—a record Mominul is inching closer to, having been dismissed for zero three times in his last six innings.
