Mohammad Ashraful, who returned to cricket after serving a ban, unofficially retired last year and started a Level-3 coaching course in Dubai. He is currently coaching at various cricket organizations, including BKSP, where he trains players weekly. Now, he is set to coach Rangpur Riders in the BPL.
“I’ve talked to a few teams about coaching. I planned to do it last year, but it fell through at the last minute. Instead, I worked as an analyst during the BPL. This time, I’m hoping to coach, and there’s a good chance I’ll be with Rangpur Riders, In Shaa Allah,” Ashraful said.
Through his coaching, Ashraful has observed young cricketers, especially their interest in T20 cricket. However, he wants to instill a love for Test cricket in them.
“In all my coaching roles, I see that young players have a different mindset about T20 cricket. We need to change that. They think technique isn’t important in T20, but having strong basics helps you perform in any format,” he explained.
