Mitchell Marsh Fit Again, Set to Play for LSG in IPL 2025 Opener Against Delhi Capitals

Mitchell Marsh is set to make his debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025, marking his sixth IPL franchise after stints with Delhi Capitals (2022–2024), Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rising Pune Supergiants, Pune Warriors, and Deccan Chargers.

LSG has been dealing with injury concerns ahead of the season. Mayank Yadav is likely to miss the first half of the tournament, while pacers Shamar Joseph and Mohsin Khan have struggled with fitness in the past. However, they have some relief as Marsh has recovered from his back injury and will be available.

Marsh Cleared to Play, But Only as a Batter

According to ESPNcricinfo, Marsh will join the LSG squad on March 18 after missing the ICC Champions Trophy and the Sri Lanka tour due to injury. He hasn’t played a match since January 7, having dealt with back issues since the Scotland and England tour in September 2024.

While Marsh is fit to play, he won’t be bowling. This isn’t new for him—he has played purely as a batter for Australia before. Other all-rounders, like Ben Stokes, have also taken a similar approach in the IPL to manage workload.

Bought for Rs 3.40 crore at the IPL 2025 mega-auction, LSG will be hoping Marsh can make an impact with the bat, even if he won’t be able to contribute with the ball.
