Former England captain Michael Vaughan has backed Harry Brook to play a major role in England’s pursuit of white-ball silverware, highlighting the batter’s ability to make a decisive impact in international cricket.

Brook, 26, has taken over as England’s white-ball captain following Jos Buttler’s departure from the role after England’s group-stage exit from the ICC Champions Trophy. His appointment underlines the importance England place on Brook as both a batter and leader.

Vaughan believes Brook has the quality to help England win a major limited-overs trophy and also expects him to make a significant impact in Test cricket.

“I have no doubt Harry Brook in the England side, they’ll have a moment where they win Ashes series and he’s man of the series. He should and I believe he’ll win England a white-ball trophy, you need your other 10 players but I think he’s that good,” Vaughan said on The Overlap Cricket.

Brook has already taken on increased leadership responsibilities, captaining England during their ODI series against Australia in September after previously serving as vice-captain at the Champions Trophy.

The right-hander has also established himself among the leading Test batters, currently sitting at No. 2 in the ICC Test batting rankings.

With his aggressive batting style and growing leadership experience, Brook remains a central figure in England’s plans across formats. His next assignment will come in the tri-nation series featuring England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
