The duo will also make Big Bash League history as the first set of twins to play in the tournament.
Craig Overton is set to make his BBL debut after featuring in seven ODIs and eight Tests for England. His experience in Australian conditions, including his Test debut at Adelaide Oval in 2017, could prove valuable for the Stars.
The 2026 northern summer was a productive one for Craig. He helped Trent Rockets reach The Hundred final, taking eight wickets, and was subsequently named the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s Most Valuable Player for England’s domestic season.
Jamie, meanwhile, joins Melbourne Stars after spending the past three seasons with Adelaide Strikers. The move reunites the brothers, with Craig being the elder twin by just three minutes.
Melbourne Stars general manager James Rosengarten believes the twin signing will bring both excitement and quality to the squad.
“It’s a unique story having twin brothers sign together, and one that we hope our fans are going to love. But more importantly, they both bring a really valuable set of skills to the club,” Rosengarten said.
Both Overton brothers offer genuine pace and power with the bat, giving the Stars additional depth and firepower heading into BBL|16.
With the likes of Finn Allen, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Peter Siddle also in the squad, Melbourne Stars will hope the Overton twins can play a key role in their campaign.
