Sri Lanka secured a thrilling three-wicket win against Zimbabwe in the first Twenty20 international in Colombo on Sunday. In a nail-biting finish, Dushmantha Chameera scored a crucial boundary off the penultimate ball and then scampered for two runs on the last ball, ensuring Sri Lanka’s unbeaten T20 record against Zimbabwe remained intact.

Former captain Angelo Mathews, making a comeback after almost three years in T20 Internationals, played a key role by top-scoring with 46 runs. Sri Lanka faced a challenging situation at 51 for four when Mathews came in, and a 55-run partnership with Dasun Shanaka brought them close to victory. Despite losing Mathews in the last over, Chameera knocked off the remaining runs, securing the win.

Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza had a standout performance, scoring 62 and taking three wickets, but it was in vain. The next match is scheduled for Tuesday in Colombo.
