Musheer Khan and Akhil Herwadkar look like the most dependable names at the top of the order. Herwadkar, in particular, made a big impact last game with a blistering 36* off just 12 balls, which helped Andheri edge ahead on DLS.
Raza Mirza, Khan’s opening partner, hasn’t quite found his rhythm yet—managing only a boundary in a 13-ball stay. But the real firepower lies with captain Shivam Dube. As the designated finisher, Dube has the muscle to launch a late assault and post a daunting total, especially on a Wankhede pitch where teams batting first have regularly gone at over 10 runs per over (except for one low-scoring game between Panthers and Blasters).
If Andheri bat first, anything around 185–195 could put serious pressure on a struggling Panthers side. Their key focus, though, will be on striking early with the ball and tightening things up at the death. Aishwary Surve, Badrey Alam, and Ajay Mishra will be vital in that mission.
Things haven’t gone according to plan for Prithvi Shaw—and neither have they for the North Mumbai Panthers. After being overlooked in the IPL, this tournament was a chance for Shaw to bounce back, but so far, he’s yet to deliver the kind of innings that grabs headlines.
The Panthers’ batting has been a major concern. In their opener at Wankhede, they lost half their side for just 85. In the next match, it was even worse—five down for 67 against the Falcons.
Shaw and Divyansh Saxena have been the only constants in the top five, but they’ve had little support. Harsh Rane, Arjun Jaiswal, and Harshal Jadhav all failed to get going in the last outing. Constant chopping and changing in the batting order hasn’t helped either. It might be time for the Panthers to back their most promising players and give them a proper run.
On the bowling side, Rahul Sawant and Alim Shaikh are the key threats. The attack looked sharp in the first game but was completely outplayed against SoBo Mumbai Falcons. If the Panthers are to turn things around, they’ll need a much more balanced performance on both fronts.
