Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Stars Preview:

Perth Scorchers( PS ) is set to face Sydney Sixers( SS ) in their Final match during the Big Bash League 2025-26. This match is scheduled to take place at the Perth Stadium on Sunday, January 25.

Perth Scorchers stormed into the final with a dominant 48-run win over the Sixers at home, and their recent form gives them plenty of belief. They’ve been one of the most consistent sides in the competition and, based on how they’re playing right now, they’ll feel confident about going all the way.

Mitchell Marsh looks back to his destructive best after that stunning century in Hobart. He’s batting with freedom again, having scored 316 runs from 11 matches at a strike rate close to 138. Finn Allen has been just as dangerous at the top, smashing 69 off 39, a brilliant 101 from 53, and 49 off 30 in his last three outings. When those two fire in the powerplay, Perth are incredibly hard to contain.

Aaron Hardie has been a pillar of consistency throughout the season, scoring 334 runs from 11 innings at a strike rate of 147. Ashton Turner and Cooper Connolly have also chipped in regularly, both crossing the 200-run mark and often providing those crucial 30-plus contributions under pressure.

With the ball, the Scorchers have been equally impressive, especially at Optus Stadium, where they back themselves to defend almost any total. That home dominance is a big reason why they’re so tough to beat at the Furnace. Cooper Connolly has led the attack with 15 wickets in 10 games at an excellent economy of 6.56, while Aaron Hardie and Mahli Beardman have shared 22 wickets between them. The addition of Jhye Richardson has further strengthened the unit, and he comes into the final after picking up five wickets across his last two matches.

Sydney Sixers, however, arrive with momentum of their own. After being outplayed by the Scorchers in the Qualifier, they hit back in style in the Challenger, crushing the Hobart Hurricanes by 57 runs to secure a place in the final. That emphatic win will have restored plenty of confidence, and they’ll pose a serious threat this time around.

Josh Philippe has carried much of the batting responsibility for the Sixers, scoring 268 runs from 11 matches at a strike rate close to 142. While others have been in and out of form, he’s been the steady presence at the top of the order.

Steven Smith has been outstanding since returning to the side. In just five matches, he’s piled up 275 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 167, including a match-winning 65 off 43 balls in the Challenger. Once again, he’ll be key to anchoring and accelerating the innings.

Daniel Hughes and Joel Davies are two more batters who could have a big say in the outcome if they get going. On the bowling front, Jack Edwards has been the standout performer with 18 wickets at an economy of 8.13. Joel Davies and Ben Dwarshuis have combined for 30 wickets, while Mitchell Starc adds genuine X-factor—if he strikes early with the new ball, he has the ability to swing the match firmly in the Sixers’ favour.

PS vs SS Toss Prediction:

We’re hoping the team wins the toss and chooses to bowl first.

PS vs SS Pitch Report:

The T20 pitch at Perth Stadium is known for its sheer pace and lively bounce, making it one of the most challenging surfaces for batters early on. Fast bowlers get plenty of assistance with movement off the seam and extra carry, often putting pressure on the top order during the Powerplay. However, once batters adjust to the bounce and get settled, the true nature of the wicket and the quick outfield make stroke-play much easier. Spinners usually find limited turn here, relying more on accuracy and variations to control the middle overs, especially with the large boundaries offering some protection. Overall, it’s a surface that rewards quality pace bowling early and aggressive batting once set, with teams generally preferring to bat first and post a strong total.

PS vs SS Weather Report:

Expect a warm and generally dry summer afternoon in Perth. Historical weather data shows late January daytime temperatures around 29–30 °C, with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies typical of the region’s summer climate. The likelihood of rain in the late afternoon is low, and conditions are likely to remain favourable for outdoor events. Winds may be light to moderate, helping keep the heat manageable but still warm overall. While occasional heat spikes or isolated cloud build-ups can occur in summer, significant wet weather isn’t expected at this time.

Expected Scores:

1st Innings: 150–170 runs
2nd Innings: 140–160 runs
