Mumbai all-rounder Musheer Khan, the younger brother of cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, is on the road to recovery following a serious car accident near Lucknow. The 19-year-old, who has gained attention for his performances in domestic cricket, suffered neck injuries and is expected to be sidelined for at least three months.
The incident, which occurred on the Purvanchal Expressway, will prevent Musheer from participating in the upcoming Irani Cup and Mumbai’s initial Ranji Trophy 2024-25 matches. Musheer and his father, Naushad Khan, were travelling from Azamgarh to Lucknow when their car collided with a divider and overturned. While Musheer sustained significant neck injuries, his father fortunately escaped with minor injuries.
Medical Update: Musheer Khan’s Condition
Musheer was rushed to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, where he is receiving treatment under the care of Dr. Dharmendra Singh. Dr. Bhola Singh, Medical Superintendent at the hospital, confirmed in a statement that Musheer’s condition is stable.
Musheer Khan was brought to our emergency department after a road accident with complaints of neck pain. He is being treated under close supervision and is currently stable and out of danger,
Dr. Singh stated.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) also updated concerned fans, noting that while Musheer remains stable and conscious, he has suffered a neck fracture and will be closely monitored.
Once Musheer is deemed fit for travel, he will be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation and specialized treatment. The exact timeline for his recovery will be determined after additional assessments,

A Tough Setback for Musheer and Mumbai
Musheer Khan started the 2024-25 domestic season on a high, scoring a century for India B against India A in the Duleep Trophy. His absence will be felt in Mumbai’s squad as they prepare to kick off their Ranji Trophy campaign on October 11. Though this accident is a significant setback, Musheer’s recovery is an immediate priority, with hopes high that the talented all-rounder will return stronger in the future.
