Lucy Hamilton to Lead Australia at ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025

Queensland’s talented all-rounder Lucy Hamilton has been named captain of the Australian team for the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, set to take place in Malaysia. The Brisbane Heat star will lead a squad brimming with talent as they gear up for their campaign, which kicks off on January 18.

At just 15 years old, Hamilton made her debut for Queensland Fire in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) in 2022, becoming the state’s second-youngest debutant. By 16, she had also debuted in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Last November, she made history as the youngest cricketer in WBBL to take a five-wicket haul, delivering a stunning 5-8 against the Melbourne Stars.

This will be Hamilton’s second ICC Under-19 World Cup appearance, having represented Australia at the 2023 tournament in South Africa at just 16.

Victorian rising star Hasrat Gill has been named vice-captain for the tournament. Known for her strong performances at the underage level, Gill impressed earlier this season during the T20 Spring Challenge.

All matches of the 17-day tournament will be streamed live on Prime Video.
