Litton Das ‘Unlikely’ to Feature in Bangladesh’s West Indies Tour

After a commanding Test series triumph over the West Indies, India now shifts focus to an exciting white-ball clash against Australia, set to begin in just a few days.

The injury had already ruled him out of the remainder of the Asia Cup, as well as Bangladesh’s recent T20I and ODI series against Afghanistan.

Selectors Express Doubts Over Litton’s Availability

According to The Daily Star, Litton underwent an MRI scan on October 14, and the final decision on his participation will depend on the report. Chief Selector Qazi Ashraf Hussain, however, expressed skepticism over his readiness, noting that Litton “is not batting full-fledgedly yet.”

“If someone can’t start batting fully, we can’t consider him for selection. After the scan report, the medical team will decide when he can begin. It was expected by now, given the nature of the injury, but it seems delayed,” Ashraf said.

A Missed Opportunity for Bangladesh and Litton

Litton’s recent form in ODIs has been inconsistent. In 2025, he played a single ODI, scoring a duck, and in 2024, he managed just 6 runs across five ODIs. While he showed signs of revival during the T20 Asia Cup 2025, his likely absence in the upcoming ODI tour could further stall his comeback in the format.

His continued unavailability also poses a challenge for Bangladesh’s limited options, particularly in ODIs. “We don’t have enough available players. I have to work with what’s in my basket,” Ashraf admitted.

Bangladesh is expected to announce the final squad for the West Indies tour soon, with the visitors scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on October 15.
