Former Australian batter Michael Klinger is now the head coach for Gujarat Giants in WPL 2024, taking over from Rachael Haynes. Alongside bowling coach Nooshin Al Khadeer and mentor Mithali Raj, Klinger brings his expertise to the team.
Mithali Raj thinks Klinger can improve the players’ performance, especially the younger ones.Klinger, previously the head coach of Melbourne Renegades and assistant coach at Sydney Thunder, aims to lead Giants to “ultimate glory.”
The announcement comes just before the start of WPL 2024 on February 23. Last season, Giants, under Haynes, faced challenges, finishing at the bottom. With a promising auction, including players like Kashvee Gautam and Phoebe Litchfield, who has worked with Klinger before, Giants are gearing up for a fresh start. Their first game is on February 25 against Mumbai Indians.
