Rossouw has now joined Joburg Super Kings, while Maharaj was acquired by the Capitals to lead the squad. The 33-match SA20 veteran has claimed 27 wickets at an economy of 7.30, including 8 wickets from 10 matches in the previous season at an economy of 6.91.

Leadership and Experience

Maharaj’s experience in international cricket is expected to bring balance and direction to the Capitals. On his appointment, the franchise said:

“One of South Africa’s most experienced and respected leaders, Maharaj brings a wealth of international pedigree across formats, along with a proven track record of guiding teams with composure, clarity, and intent. Having captained South Africa in white-ball cricket and served as a senior figure in the national setup for several years, Maharaj’s leadership, tactical understanding, and consistency make him an invaluable addition in this role. His presence strengthens the balance and direction of the Pretoria Capitals squad as the team heads into the new season.”

Revamped Coaching Staff and Squad Moves

Pretoria Capitals have also revamped their coaching team, with former India captain Sourav Ganguly appointed as head coach and former South Africa captain Shaun Pollock joining as assistant coach.

With the largest auction purse of R32.5 million, the Capitals made key acquisitions including Dewald Brevis, Lungi Ngidi, Craig Overton, Connor Esterhuizen, Lizaad Williams, and Bryce Parsons. Pre-signed players include Sherfane Rutherford and Will Jacks, while Andre Russell joins as a wild card pick.
