Nick Kelly and Joe Carter have been named captains for New Zealand A’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh, a squad that also includes recent debutants Rhys Mariu and Muhammad Abbas.
Kelly will take charge of the one-day side for three 50-over matches, before handing the reins over to Carter for the two four-day games.
Kelly, Mariu, and Abbas all made their debuts earlier this month during the series against Pakistan. Abbas made an immediate impact, smashing the fastest ODI fifty on debut in just 24 balls. Meanwhile, Kelly and Mariu were standout performers in the Plunket Shield, finishing as the top two run-scorers.
Carter, 32, brings valuable experience to the squad. He impressed during New Zealand A’s last trip to the subcontinent in 2022, averaging 60.40 and notching two centuries, including a career-best 197.
The squad also features wicketkeeper Mitch Hay, who narrowly missed a century with an unbeaten 99 against Pakistan in Hamilton, and allrounder Josh Clarkson.
New Zealand A’s pace attack includes international names like Zak Foulkes and Ben Lister, while legspinner Adi Ashok—who was part of the recent squad against Pakistan—has also been selected.

“For several players, this will be their first time playing in subcontinent conditions, which will be a great challenge and an opportunity to grow their skills,” said head coach Bob Carter.
The three one-day matches are scheduled for May 5, 7, and 10 in Sylhet. The first four-day match will follow from May 14-17, also in Sylhet, before the second game is played in Dhaka from May 21-24.
