JP Duminy has stepped down as South Africa’s white-ball batting coach, citing personal reasons. The announcement came on Friday, December 6, ending his tenure with the team, which began in March 2023.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed the news in a statement and revealed that the search for a replacement is already underway. During Duminy’s time as coach, the Proteas reached the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 and the finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.

CSA expressed their gratitude for Duminy’s contributions, particularly in enhancing the team’s batting performance, and wished him success in his future endeavors.

“JP Duminy has stepped down as the white-ball batting coach with immediate effect, following a mutual agreement with CSA based on personal reasons. His contributions to the national white-ball setup have been invaluable,” CSA wrote on their X account.

They added, “The process to identify a suitable replacement is underway, and the new batting coach will be announced in due course.”

Duminy, a former all-rounder, had an impressive 11-year international career. He represented South Africa in 46 Tests, 199 ODIs, and 81 T20Is, scoring 2,103 runs in Tests, 5,117 in ODIs, and 1,934 in T20Is. His last game for the national side was during the 2019 ODI World Cup.

South Africa’s next assignment is an all-format series against Pakistan, which includes three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests, following the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka.
