Hazlewood picked up one wicket as RCB restricted Lucknow Super Giants to 146, before the hosts chased down the target comfortably at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The bowling unit also saw strong contributions from Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/27), Rasikh Salam (4/24), and Krunal Pandya (2/38). Hazlewood’s disciplined spell earned him the Player of the Match award on Wednesday, April 15.

Speaking after the match, Hazlewood highlighted how conditions in Bengaluru have been slightly different this season and how bowling first helped the team adapt better.

“We probably struggled a little bit in the first half of last year in home games. So, it’s nice to win the toss and have a bowl first. It’s a slightly different wicket than what we’re used to—slower and a bit up and down. I thought the way we chased the total down was very good,” he said.

He also praised the batting unit for their composed chase, calling it a sign of growing confidence within the squad.

Hazlewood further spoke about his bowling approach, comparing himself to bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, noting that he relies more on consistency than variations.

“You don’t have to try too much. It’s about execution and hitting the right areas. I don’t have the skills of someone like Bumrah or others with slower balls, so you’ve got to make it up on the run. I keep working on small adjustments and try to stay accurate,” he explained.

With this win, RCB continue their strong run in IPL 2026, moving to the top of the points table with eight points from five matches. Their only defeat so far came against Rajasthan Royals. They will next face Delhi Capitals on April 18, aiming to extend their winning momentum.
