On Friday, October 31, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed the updated list of central contracts for the 2024-25 season, awarding contracts to 29 players. This includes seven two-year contracts, 19 annual contracts, and three development contracts, highlighting the board’s focus on both established players and promising newcomers. Among the notable names, 24-year-old Jamie Smith secured his first central contract after an impressive season. He joins the likes of England’s Test captain Ben Stokes and white-ball leader Jos Buttler, both of whom have been upgraded to two-year contracts. This year, ECB has also extended a two-year contract to star batter Joe Root and emerging sensation Harry Brook, rewarding their consistent performances.
