In a dazzling display of batting prowess, Will Jacks stole the spotlight in the Chattogram phase opener of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). His scintillating century, complemented by Liton Das and Moeen Ali’s explosive contributions, propelled Comilla Victorians to an impressive total against Chattogram Challengers at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Record-Equalling Innings
Jack’s masterful knock of 108 runs off just 53 balls laid the foundation for Comilla’s formidable total. Skipper Liton Das and Moeen Ali added to the onslaught with brisk innings of 60 runs off 31 balls and 53 runs off 24 balls, respectively. The relentless batting assault culminated in Comilla equaling the highest ever BPL total of 239-3 in their allotted 20 overs.
Dominant Partnership
The opening partnership between Jacks and Liton was instrumental, yielding 86 runs in a mere 7.5 overs. Despite a brief stumble after Liton’s departure, Comilla regrouped spectacularly. Jacks and Moeen forged an unbeaten 128-run partnership off just 53 deliveries, propelling Comilla to a record-equalling score.
Stellar Performances
Moeen’s blistering innings, featuring five sixes and two fours, complemented Jacks’s onslaught, who hammered an impressive tally of 10 sixes and five fours en route to his third T20 century, a first in the BPL. Notably, this marks the second century of this year’s BPL, following Towhid Hridoy’s earlier feat for Comilla.
Bowling Struggles
Chattogram’s bowlers faced a relentless onslaught, with Al-Amin Hossain bearing the brunt, conceding 69 runs in his four overs. Shohidul Islam managed to pick up two wickets, but couldn’t stem the flow of the runs, conceding 49 runs in his spell.
With such a commanding batting display, Comilla Victorians have set a formidable benchmark in the BPL, leaving their opponents to chase an imposing target.
