ICC Appoints Sana Mir as Ambassador for Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier

The ICC has named former Pakistan captain Sana Mir as the ambassador for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier. With 226 international appearances, including 137 as captain, Sana will closely follow the tournament’s 10 teams over two weeks. She’s excited about the competition, running from April 25 to May 7 in Abu Dhabi, where teams will vie for two spots in the main event in Bangladesh later this year.

Through her job, Sana hopes to assist teams and players by utilizing her mentorship work and personal experiences from qualifying tournaments. She thinks Associate Member teams have a chance to succeed and that women’s cricket is becoming more competitive. Ten teams compete in the event; the top two from each group move on to the semi-finals and are guaranteed places in Bangladesh. The teams are divided into two groups.
