After a 25-year wait, Pakistan is set to host an ICC event once again, with the Champions Trophy scheduled for February 2025. However, the tournament’s fate remains uncertain as the BCCI deliberates on whether to send Team India to participate. A hybrid hosting model has been proposed as a possible solution.

Should the BCCI decide in favor, India and Pakistan could potentially face off three times during the competition. Initially, both teams are likely to be placed in the same group. If they advance as expected, another encounter would occur in the Super 4s stage. With a bit of luck, a third and final showdown could happen if both teams reach the finals.

The ICC has allocated a substantial budget for the event, with around USD 70 million set aside, including an additional USD 4.5 million for extra expenses.

In recent months, the PCB has been vocal about the situation, while the BCCI has remained reticent. India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series in the 2012-13 season, with geopolitical tensions since halting further series.

Hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy is a significant milestone for Pakistan, marking their first time co-hosting an ICC event since 1996.
