Rishabh Pant’s IPL 2025 campaign hasn’t gone as hoped. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper has managed just 151 runs from 13 matches at a strike rate of 107.09 — his poorest season in the league so far. But despite the slump, head coach Justin Langer has thrown his full support behind the young wicketkeeper-batter, praising his character and unwavering commitment to the team.
Langer, the former Australian opener, reflected on Pant’s incredible journey back to cricket after his near-fatal car accident in December 2023 — a comeback that inspired fans and teammates alike.
“You judge a person’s character by how they handle tough times, and Rishabh has been incredibly consistent,” Langer said during a live broadcast after LSG’s 33-run win over Gujarat Titans on May 23.
“We all know what he’s gone through over the past couple of years, but he keeps stepping up. He wants to be out there, he wants to keep fighting for the boys. That says a lot about his strength.”
Langer went on to say that Pant’s attitude doesn’t show the strain he’s under — a mark of true leadership.
