Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif has lavished praise on ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, calling him the poster boy of Indian cricket following India’s emphatic T20 World Cup 2026 triumph. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 8.

Bumrah starred in the summit clash, taking 4/15 in four overs to earn the Player of the Match award. Across the tournament, he claimed 14 wickets in eight matches at an average of 12.42, a strike rate of 12.00, and an economy of 6.21.

Speaking on his YouTube channel on March 13, Kaif highlighted Bumrah’s role in India’s T20 World Cup successes in 2024 and 2026, emphasizing his unmatched value:

“You will not find a bigger player than Bumrah. He is the real poster boy. No one around comes close to him. He was the main reason we won the World Cup in 2024 and again in 2026.”

Kaif further stated that any team with Bumrah would automatically become stronger, noting India’s fortune in having him:

“Even if you put Bumrah in someone else’s team, that team will start winning. India is very lucky to have a player like him. Sometimes he does not get as much limelight as he deserves, whether for ads or news coverage.”

Bumrah’s career T20I stats underline his impact: 95 matches, 121 wickets at 18.08 average, strike rate 16.6, and economy 6.51, with best figures of 4/15.

Kaif also discussed the broader trend of Indian cricket fans idolizing batters more than bowlers:

“We, as a country, tend to love batters like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill. Even when Shubman Gill recently performed well, we discussed him a lot. That is actually a little unlucky as a nation because bowlers do not get the same recognition.”

Following the T20 World Cup celebrations, India’s star players, including Bumrah, will now gear up for the IPL 2026, which kicks off on March 28.
