Haryana vs Mumbai Ranji Trophy Quarter-Final Moved to Kolkata.

The BCCI has relocated the Ranji Trophy quarter-final between Haryana and Mumbai from Lahli, Haryana’s designated home venue, to Kolkata, a neutral ground. The decision, communicated just a day before Mumbai was set to travel to Lahli, has disrupted the travel plans of both teams. With the match scheduled to begin on Saturday, the unexpected change has also left the “hosts,” Haryana, surprised, as the BCCI has yet to provide an official reason for the venue shift.

Mumbai was originally scheduled to arrive in Lahli on Wednesday morning, but following the BCCI’s decision, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is now arranging for the team to fly to Kolkata by Wednesday evening. Haryana is also expected to reach Kolkata later the same day. “Yes, we have received a communication from BCCI that our quarter-final against Haryana will be played at the Eden Gardens,” MCA president Ajinkya Naik confirmed to PTI.

Despite the venue change, weather conditions in Lahli have reportedly been clear in recent days, and the Haryana Cricket Association (HCA) was confident in hosting the match at the Bansi Lal Stadium, where they played all three of their home fixtures this season. ESPNcricinfo reached out to a senior HCA official for a statement, but they declined to comment on the matter.

Haryana isn’t the only team to lose home advantage. Jammu & Kashmir’s quarter-final against Kerala has also been moved from Jammu to the MCA Stadium in Pune. However, in this case, the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) had expressed concerns over ground conditions following a harsh winter and communicated their worries to the BCCI.

JKCA had initially proposed Mumbai or Ahmedabad as alternative venues, but after being informed that those options were unavailable, the decision was made to hold the match in Pune instead.

Meanwhile, the remaining two quarter-finals remain unaffected. Vidarbha will take on Tamil Nadu in Nagpur (Civil Lines Stadium), while Saurashtra will face Gujarat in Rajkot (Niranjan Shah Stadium), following the usual rule that group toppers host knockout matches.

Vidarbha dominated the group stage, securing the highest points tally (40) with six outright wins in seven matches. Gujarat, meanwhile, finished third with 32 points, trailing Jammu & Kashmir’s 35.
