Haris Rauf, the fast bowler for Lahore Qalandars, will not be playing in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He got injured in the match against Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
Haris Rauf, Pakistan and Lahore Qalandars’ premier fast bowler will be unavailable for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League after suffering a dislocated shoulder during a narrow defeat against Karachi Kings last night,” Lahore Qalandars said in a press release.
“He fell awkwardly on his shoulder in the 20th over while completing a stunning catch to dismiss Hasan Ali. Despite the injury, he walked off with his arm strapped and underwent scans. Rauf had an exceptional performance, bowling the most economical four overs last night, conceding 22 runs with one wicket, playing a crucial role in the final over to pull the game.
“The medical panel, after consultation, concluded that he needs four to six weeks to recover, forcing him to miss the PSL season.
During the Karachi match, Haris injured himself while diving to the ground from the long-off position. Initially, it seemed like he didn’t catch the ball, but the third umpire ruled it out.
He had a bandage on his right shoulder and had to leave the field.
Lahore’s captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, expressed sadness about Rauf’s injury, mentioning that he’ll be out for the rest of the season. Afridi acknowledged Rauf as a key player for the team.
As a team, we are deeply saddened by Haris Rauf’s injury. It was painful to see him missing out as he’s been a pillar of strength for us, and his absence will be felt. In the face of adversity, we stand united, and I have full confidence that the team will rise to the occasion,” Shaheen said on Rauf’s injury.
“It’s indeed a setback for the franchise, but he is also Pakistan’s main bowler, and with a lot of cricket coming up, a pragmatic approach was to give him maximum time to recover. Wishing him a speedy recovery, and we eagerly await his return to the field stronger than ever. Our thoughts and support are with him during this challenging time.
Lahore suffered a close defeat against Karachi, losing by two wickets on Saturday. This marked their fourth straight loss in PSL 9.
