The Indian vice-captain leapt two places to tie with Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga as the leading T20I all-rounder. Pandya’s significant contributions with both bat and ball were pivotal in India’s triumphant World Cup campaign, especially in the final against South Africa at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29.
Throughout the tournament, Pandya played crucial innings lower down the order and provided vital breakthroughs with the ball. His standout performance came in the final, where he took the key wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, shifting the momentum in India’s favour as South Africa chased 177 runs. Pandya capped off the World Cup with 144 runs at a strike rate of 151.57 in six innings across eight matches, including a half-century. He also claimed 11 wickets with the best figures of 3/20 in the final, maintaining an economic rate of 7.64.
