The incident took place during the eighth over of England’s innings when tensions briefly flared between Brar and opener Ben Duckett. After Duckett struck the young pacer for a boundary and two sixes in Brar’s opening over, the Indian seamer threw the ball back towards the batter in frustration after collecting it.
Duckett managed to avoid the throw, and the two players exchanged words before continuing with the game. Brar later responded strongly on the field, dismissing both England openers in his third spell. He finished the match with figures of 2/61 from nine overs as England posted 258 runs.
Brar was found guilty of breaching Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to throwing the ball inappropriately or dangerously at or near a player during an international match.
The 26-year-old admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. As a result, no formal hearing was required.

The demerit point will remain on Brar’s disciplinary record for two years. Under ICC regulations, accumulating four or more demerit points within a 24-month period can result in a suspension.
However, the warning does not prevent Brar from playing in upcoming matches. India are set to face England in the second ODI at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Thursday, July 16, with the visitors leading the three-match series 1-0 after a six-wicket win in Birmingham.
Brar is expected to retain his place as India look to seal the series with another victory.
