PBKS, who were once leading the points table, have now suffered four consecutive defeats, including a costly loss to Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala. Bangar said Shreyas Iyer’s side must win at least two of their remaining three matches to keep their playoff hopes alive, adding that the clash between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad could prove decisive in shaping the qualification race.
Bangar noted that Punjab’s recent setback has severely dented their chances of securing a top-two finish. He stressed that every remaining game will now carry huge significance as the playoff battle tightens.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders have staged a stunning turnaround after languishing at the bottom of the table earlier in the season. The three-time champions have now won four matches on the trot, reviving their playoff hopes in remarkable fashion.
Bangar praised KKR’s improved team balance, pointing to their resurgent spin attack and consistent batting performances. He said the side is gathering momentum at the ideal stage of the tournament and believes that if they win their remaining four matches, it would rank among the greatest comebacks in IPL history.
As the standings stand, RCB, SRH and GT are all level on 14 points after 11 matches each. PBKS hold fourth place with 13 points, while CSK and RR sit on 12. DC are on 10 points, with KKR close behind on nine, leaving the playoff race wide open heading into the business end of the season.
