Gill to miss out on opening Test against Australia

During an intra-squad training match at WACA, India’s number three batter, Shubman Gill, injured his thumb and was forced to leave the field. While the BCCI has not officially commented on the injury, it is believed to be a minor fracture. Gill is now working against time to recover in time for the second Test in Adelaide, starting December 6.

Gill’s injury leaves India with the challenge of adjusting their batting order. There is also uncertainty about captain Rohit Sharma’s availability for the first Test, as he and his wife Ritika Sajdeh welcomed their second child on Friday.
