Gujarat Giants won the toss and opted to bowl first against UP Warriorz in their second game of the season at Vadodara.
Captain Ash Gardner explained the decision, saying, “The dew plays a hand, but I also think it is a hard ground to defend on. So we need to take wickets early.” The Giants, who posted 201 in their season opener but still lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, remain unchanged for this match.
This is the UP Warriorz‘ first match of the season, and they’ve handed debuts to Kranti Goud, an uncapped Indian fast bowler, and Alana King, an Australian legspinner. Other overseas players in their squad include Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Ecclestone, and Grace Harris.
The Warriorz will be missing their star opener and former captain, Alyssa Healy, who is sidelined due to a stress injury in her right foot.
