Ashraf dismantled the Royals’ lower order with a sensational five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5-17 in 3.5 overs, helping his team secure an emphatic seven-wicket victory.
Ashraf’s heroics came amid news that several Pakistan cricketers may miss parts of the BPL season due to national commitments, making his performance all the more crucial for Rangpur Riders.
Dominant Spell for Rangpur Riders
Faheem Ashraf opened the bowling alongside Nahid Rana, going wicketless in his first over during the powerplay. But he made an immediate impact afterwards, removing Mahfijul Islam, followed by Masood Gurbaz and Royals captain Mahedi Hasan in just four deliveries. He then cleaned up the tail, claiming the wickets of Abu Hider and Shoriful Islam, restricting Chattogram Royals to 102 runs.
Support came from fellow bowlers Nahid Rana, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Al Islam, each taking a wicket, while senior pacer Mustafizur Rahman picked up two wickets in his three overs.
Chasing Made Easy
In reply, Rangpur Riders chased down the target comfortably in 15 overs. Opening batter Dawid Malan scored 51 off 48 balls, including five fours and two sixes, while Litton Das contributed a brisk 47 from 31 balls. Despite a brief scare when Mukidul Islam picked up two quick wickets, Khushdil Shah sealed the win, completing a dominant performance by Rangpur Riders.
