In a recent online interaction on the X platform, former Pakistan cricket captain, Babar Azam, engaged in a lively discussion covering various topics in his space titled “From the Pitch to the Mic: Babar Azam.” Amidst cricket-related inquiries, an unexpected and amusing question surfaced, not from a fan, but from Babar’s fellow teammate, Mohammad Rizwan, regarding Babar’s marital status.
The exchange between Babar and Rizwan took a humorous turn, capturing the attention of social media users.
Rizwan inquired,
Jaanab, aap ki shaadi kab hai? (Mr. when are you getting married?)
to which Babar responded,
Mujhe pata tha aap yehi sawaal karenge. (I knew you would ask me this question).
Rizwan playfully insisted on an answer, stating,
Abhi poocha hai toh jawaab dena padega aapko (Now that I have asked, you must answer the question).
Babar replied,
Murshid, aapko mein akele mein samjhata hoon (I will make you understand that in private).
Adding a touch of humor, Babar shared,
Nowadays, when I wake up in the morning, I find that I am married to someone. People started congratulating me. Then again, in the evening I am married to someone else. People again congratulate me. So I am already married. Now you should focus on someone else.
He amusingly revealed,
The truth is that my wife is more concerned about when is Babar getting married. She keeps asking me daily.
This light-hearted interaction follows Rizwan’s recent comment expressing concern about the impact of breaking his successful opening partnership with Babar in T20Is. Despite the changes in the team dynamics post-Babar’s captaincy decision, the new opening pairing of Saim Ayub and Rizwan has faced challenges.
Reflecting on the alteration in the opening pair, Rizwan shared,
You can say that it [breaking the opening pair] has hurt (nuksaan hua hai) Pakistan. I can say that Babar bhai has a big heart. We both agreed that there is no issue [in splitting the opening pair]. We both told the management that they can try whatever combination they want. The difficulty arises when you break things that were already working well. However, management is looking at what can be extracted from different combinations,
