Once again, England find themselves grappling with visa troubles during their India tour, this time affecting the participation of leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed in the upcoming third Test match in Rajkot.
Following a brief break in Abu Dhabi, the England team returned to India on Monday, only to encounter complications upon arrival. Rehan, the 19-year-old cricketer, faced a delay at the airport due to an expired single-entry visa, acquired when he departed for Abu Dhabi with the team.
After a two-hour ordeal, authorities granted Rehan a temporary visa, allowing him to join his teammates at the team hotel. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) addressed the situation, acknowledging the visa discrepancy and expressing gratitude for the cooperation of Rajkot Airport officials. They assured the proper visa would be processed promptly, enabling Rehan to resume preparations with the squad ahead of the third Test.
This isn’t the first time England has grappled with visa issues during this tour. Shoaib Bashir had to return to England before the first Test in Hyderabad due to visa complications, rendering him unavailable for the match.
With the series tied at 1-1, all eyes are now on the third Test scheduled to commence on February 15, as England navigate through these administrative challenges amidst their quest for victory.
