England’s promising spinner, Rehan Ahmed, has made the difficult decision to leave the ongoing India tour citing personal reasons, as confirmed by the country’s cricket board on Friday, coinciding with the commencement of the fourth Test match.
In an official statement, England Cricket announced:
Rehan Ahmed will not be rejoining the squad in India and there are no plans to designate a replacement player.
Despite his young age of 19, Ahmed showcased remarkable talent in the first three matches, claiming a notable tally of 11 wickets with his leg-spin. However, for the fourth Test in Ranchi, fellow spinner Shoaib Bashir has been called in as his replacement.
Under the leadership of Ben Stokes, England find themselves trailing 2-1 in the five-match series following their victory in the opening encounter.
Meanwhile, India’s Virat Kohli had earlier withdrawn from the series due to personal reasons, with the subsequent joyous news of welcoming his second child, a baby boy, shared with his Bollywood star wife, Anushka Sharma, on Tuesday.
