England made a single change for the upcoming game, swapping seamer Ollie Robinson for fast bowler Mark Wood. Robinson didn’t take any wickets in the previous Test, where India secured a 3-1 lead.

Mark Wood will join James Anderson in England’s seam attack, while Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir will handle the spin duties, with Joe Root contributing his part-time off-spin.

Ben Stokes, the England captain, explained the decision, saying, “I think going with two seamers and two spinners is probably the right call. Playing two seamers and still having Bash and Tom gives us a good mixture when you’re a little bit unsure of what it [the pitch] will do as the Test goes on.”

Stokes anticipated a batsman-friendly contest and expressed his desire for Jonny Bairstow to overcome his recent poor form in his 100th Test match. Stokes added, “If I was a captain here in a one-day game, I wouldn’t want to win the toss because I wouldn’t know what to do looking at how good the wicket looks.”

Despite India securing their 17th consecutive Test series win at home, Ravichandran Ashwin aims to make his 100th Test a special occasion. India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, praised the off-spinner, highlighting his achievement of claiming 500 Test wickets in the ongoing series.
