Born in Devon, Bess made his First-Class debut for Somerset in 2016 before joining Yorkshire in 2019. Since then, the 28-year-old has become a key figure for the club, taking 227 wickets and scoring 2,663 runs across formats. He recently surpassed 300 First-Class wickets after a standout seven-wicket haul against Glamorgan in the 2026 Rothesay County Championship.
Bess also reflected on his journey with Yorkshire, calling the club his “home” and expressing excitement about future success with a talented squad.
He played a leadership role in Yorkshire’s 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign, captaining the side to the semi-finals and taking 10 wickets in nine matches at an impressive economy rate.
It is worth noting that Bess has represented England cricket team in 14 Test matches, taking 36 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls since his debut in 2018.
Yorkshire will now begin their new season with a home fixture against Hampshire at Headingley in Leeds.
