In an exclusive interview with Sony Sports, Novak Djokovic recently shared details about his unique bond with Virat Kohli, emphasizing the enduring connection they’ve cultivated over the years through text messages. Despite never having met Kohli in person, Djokovic expressed the privilege he felt when hearing the Indian cricket star speak kindly about him.
Reflecting on his sole visit to India a decade ago for a two-day exhibition event in New Delhi, Djokovic expressed a desire to return soon, eager to explore the country’s rich history, culture, and spirituality. The Serbian tennis icon also mentioned his admiration for Kohli’s illustrious career and achievements as a prominent cricket batter.
I’ve felt that way for many years. I visited India only once around 10 or 11 years ago for a two-day exhibition event in New Delhi. It was a brief stay, and I hope to return soon to explore the country’s rich history, culture, and spirituality. I have great relationships with eminent personalities like Sachin, Virat, and many others. I’ve been in touch with Virat Kohli over texts for a few years, but we have never met in person. It was a privilege to hear him speak kindly about me. I admire his career and achievements,
Djokovic conveyed during the interview.
Beyond his connection with Kohli, Djokovic shared his sentiments about his current position in the world of tennis, expressing gratitude for living his childhood dream. The Serbian star acknowledged the dedication and hard work that has led him to where he is today, emphasizing his lifelong aspirations to achieve greatness in the sport.
I feel blessed to be in this position, living my dream. I have been working all my life to be in this position and to be in this kind of circumstances I find myself right now. As a 4-5-year-old boy in Serbia, I’ve always dreamt of reaching the greatest heights of tennis, winning Grand Slams and making history in this beautiful sport that has given me and my family so much,
Djokovic shared it during the interaction.
