Delhi Capitals Co-Owner Parth Jindal Enters Race to Acquire RCB Ahead of IPL 2026

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), one of the most popular franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), could be on the verge of a change in ownership — just weeks after clinching its first IPL title in 18 years

Delhi Capitals Co-Owner Parth Jindal Enters Race to Acquire RCB Ahead of IPL 2026

Reports suggest that six high-profile investors are exploring the possibility of buying the team, although no deal has been confirmed yet.

Currently owned by British liquor giant Diageo, RCB’s Indian branch reportedly has no immediate plans to sell. This has created uncertainty, as Diageo’s top management could change its stance at the last moment.

Six Potential Buyers Eye RCB
Cricbuzz reports that discussions are underway with several Indian and international investors. The list includes Adar Poonawalla of the Serum Institute, Parth Jindal of the JSW Group, the Adani Group, a prominent Delhi-based businessman, and two US private equity firms.

If Parth Jindal’s group — which already owns 50% of Delhi Capitals — pursues RCB, it may have to relinquish its stake in Delhi. The Adani Group, meanwhile, has long been interested in the IPL and had previously attempted to acquire the Ahmedabad franchise.

Valuation and Challenges
Diageo is reportedly seeking around $2 billion (₹175,981,508) for RCB. The valuation factors in media rights, revenue projections, subscriptions, and advertising earnings.

However, prospective owners would also inherit ongoing challenges, including legal and logistical issues stemming from a tragic stampede at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in June, which claimed 11 lives during RCB’s victory parade.

A Storied Legacy and a New Chapter
RCB, IPL 2025 champions, has a rich history. It was originally owned by former liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya before Diageo took over following the collapse of Mallya’s business empire. Riding high on their first IPL title, the franchise could soon enter a new era — depending on Diageo’s decision to sell and whether potential buyers meet the steep valuation demands.
