Gill has been declared fully fit and will feature in the upcoming five-match T20I series starting December 9. The 24-year-old missed the second Test and the ODI series but has now completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, making him ready for the short-format clash.

Steyn Highlights Three Reasons to Watch the Series

Speaking as a JioStar expert, Steyn shared his enthusiasm for the series and highlighted three key points of excitement:

  1. Shubman Gill’s Return – “Sounds like he’s back for India, which makes every Indian fan excited.”
  2. David Miller’s Return – “Big-hitting David Miller is back for South Africa. He hits the ball out of the ground, and I’m excited to watch him.”
  3. India vs South Africa T20 Clash – “The last time I watched South Africa play India in a T20 was in a World Cup final in Barbados. This is going to be great to watch, and I’m very excited to be part of it,” Steyn told ANI.

Gill’s Return Strengthens India’s Lineup

Gill’s comeback provides a significant boost to India’s young and dynamic T20I squad led by Suryakumar Yadav. Familiar with the Barabati Stadium, Gill scored 60 runs in his lone ODI at the venue, with a dot ball percentage of 48.1, making him a reliable choice to anchor the top order.

Adding to India’s strength, Hardik Pandya is also making his return to the T20 squad, bringing in-form momentum from a successful SMAT stint with Baroda. With the Men in Blue ending the ODI series on a high, they enter the five-match T20I series confident and ready to challenge the visitors.
