Cricket NSW acknowledged the situation, condemning Warner’s actions while also offering support to the 39-year-old during this challenging period. The association emphasized its commitment to educating Warner and other players on safe driving practices.

“Cricket NSW is aware of an alleged drink-driving incident involving Sydney Thunder BBL captain David Warner, including charges laid by NSW Police,” the association said in a statement on Wednesday, April 8.

Lee Germon, CEO of Cricket NSW, added, “Cricket NSW is a strong advocate of safe driving, including avoiding drink-driving, and takes incidents of this nature very seriously. David is aware of the seriousness of these allegations. We will support him through the upcoming process and work together on further educating him and all players on the importance of safe driving.”

Warner is currently leading Karachi Kings in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, where the team has won all three of its matches so far. Warner has contributed 93 runs across three outings, including a half-century, with a strike rate close to 140, helping his side maintain momentum.

It remains uncertain whether Warner will be able to participate fully in the remainder of the PSL, as legal proceedings in Australia may require his presence.
