A total of 48 players—across full-time, part-year, educational, and casual contracts—have been awarded deals as part of the board’s ongoing investment in elite cricket.
Among the notable names, left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys has earned a full-time contract following his impressive performance in the recent Test match against Zimbabwe. He had previously held a retainer contract.
On the women’s side, top-order batter Sarah Forbes has also secured a full-time contract thanks to her strong showing during Ireland’s campaign in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifiers.
Cricket Ireland’s contract structure continues to evolve, aiming to provide flexibility and support tailored to each player’s situation. Players not on long-term deals can also be offered ‘casual’ contracts for the remainder of the contract year, based on team needs and individual performances.
Greame West, Cricket Ireland’s Director of High Performance, emphasized the importance of these contracts in nurturing Ireland’s top cricketing talent.
“They give players access to specialist coaching, healthcare, and lifestyle support—creating a more holistic environment for development. These contracts reflect our commitment to growing the sport and ensuring Ireland remains competitive on the world stage, while also building role models who can inspire the next generation,” West told the ICC.
