The tournament kicks off on August 14 and will see Afridi teaming up with fellow Pakistan quick Naseem Shah, who returns to the Patriots after last playing for them in 2021.

Running from August 14 to September 21, CPL 2025 will feature 34 matches, including the playoffs, with St. Lucia Kings entering as defending champions.

Patriots Add Firepower with Pakistani Duo
The Patriots officially confirmed the signing of 24-year-old Afridi, though they have not disclosed which player he replaces in the squad. Afridi comes with an impressive T20 track record, having played in leagues across Pakistan and Bangladesh. In the PSL, he has bagged 60 wickets in just 40 games since his debut in 2021, representing Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and returning to Karachi this year.

Joining him is Naseem Shah, who picked up six wickets in seven games during his previous CPL stint in 2021, maintaining a tidy economy of 7.68. The Patriots will also welcome Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz, who will be making his CPL debut.

More Pakistani Talent in CPL 2025
Beyond the Patriots’ trio, CPL 2025 will see several other Pakistani stars in action. Mohammad Amir, with 51 CPL wickets to his name, will turn out for Trinbago Knight Riders—his fourth CPL side since 2021. Usman Tariq will also debut for Trinbago after strong PSL performances. Imad Wasim returns to the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, while Iftikhar Ahmed joins Guyana Amazon Warriors as a replacement for USA’s Hassan Khan.

Pakistan’s presence in CPL 2025 promises plenty of pace, skill, and all-round depth—making this season one to watch.
