Shanto is gearing up for the T20 World Cup in June and plans to start preparing during this series. With only 8-10 matches before the main event, the team aims to fine-tune their strategies and lineup.

We are doing well in ODIs. As a team, we have not won any major tournaments (like the World Cup). To move forward with that plan, we need to figure out how we can play good cricket in a major tournament or bring a trophy home for the country,” said Shanto in the press conference.

“The T20 tournament went well last year. I feel like there has been a lot of improvement in T20 compared to before. If we continue to improve in other areas, we can play well against any team in any condition. Our plan will become clearer. Every player’s responsibility should be to improve the team’s performance from their respective positions,” he said.

The 25-year-old mentioned his desire to make the most of playing at home and aims to win all the home series, starting with Sri Lanka.

I don’t feel like we have made much progress in Test cricket. We have started playing better than before. However, I believe when we have matches at home, we should win most of those matches. Everyone should prioritise Test cricket. When we go abroad, we should be able to compete with the foreign teams,” he added.

“Everyone is in a good position in the team, I hope everyone will do their best in this series. The 5-6 bowlers in our team are all experienced and skilled. I think they can help us win the match alone,” he added.
