The largest Twenty20 cricket league in the world is gearing up to commence in just under a month. All ten teams are poised to battle it out for the championship.

The inaugural match of this highly lucrative league is scheduled for March 22, featuring a showdown between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Before the commencement of the upcoming IPL season, the Lucknow Super Giants IPL team has made a significant announcement.

The franchise based in Lucknow has named Nicholas Pooran as the new vice captain for the team ahead of the IPL 2024 season.

Kl Rahul is set to captain the Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming IPL season, but due to an injury to Kl Rahul mid-tournament, the franchise has designated Krunal Pandya as the stand-in captain.

Nicholas Pooran has emerged as a key player for the Lucknow franchise, significantly contributing to their middle order. To date, Pooran has participated in 62 IPL matches, amassing 1270 runs with an impressive strike rate of 156.79.

The Lucknow-based team will kick off its IPL journey facing Rajasthan Royals on March 24 in Jaipur.
