According to Islam, the BCCI is currently in discussions with the Indian government and will make a final decision based on those talks.
Islam said the BCCI has assured the BCB that if the tour doesn’t happen in August, it will be rescheduled for the next available window. However, no clear reason has been given for the uncertainty surrounding the series.
“I’ve already spoken to the BCCI, and the discussions have been positive. We’re still hopeful,” Islam said during a press conference in Dhaka following a six-hour BCB board meeting. “It’s scheduled for next month, but they’re waiting on some government decisions.”
He added, “If for any reason they can’t come in August, they’ve committed to making the tour happen at the next possible window. I can’t say much more, except that they’ve been very professional and cooperative throughout.”
Back in April, the BCB had announced a six-match white-ball series between the two sides, scheduled for August. The series includes three ODIs on August 17, 20, and 23, followed by three T20Is on August 26, 29, and 31. Matches are set to be played in Mirpur and Chattogram.
Bangladesh to Host Pakistan for 3 T20Is in July — Full Schedule Announced
This would be India’s first-ever bilateral T20I series in Bangladesh and their first white-ball-only tour to the country since 2014, when they played a three-match ODI series. The series is expected to serve as a key part of India’s build-up to the 2025 T20 Asia Cup, which they are set to host in September.
