BCCI Unveils New National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, Now a Centre of Excellence

On Sunday, September 29, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) inaugurated the newly revamped National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Designed under the vision of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, the state-of-the-art facility, now rebranded as the BCCI Centre of Excellence, aims to be the breeding ground for India’s future cricket stars.

Spanning over 40 acres, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) boasts three fully equipped grounds and 86 pitches for training and catering to both indoor and outdoor needs. At its core are three top-tier cricket grounds. Ground A, the main stadium, features an 85-yard boundary and offers 13 red soil pitches. Grounds B and C, primarily used for practice, have 75-yard boundaries and include 11 Mandya soil pitches and 9 Black Cotton soil pitches, providing varied playing conditions for aspiring cricketers.

A cutting-edge subsurface drainage system has been installed to ensure swift recovery after rain, allowing minimal disruption. In practice, the NCA offers 45 outdoor net pitches, alongside dedicated fielding areas and six outdoor running tracks to facilitate all-round player development.

The indoor facilities are equally impressive, featuring eight high-quality turf pitches imported from the UK and Australia. With an 80-meter common run-up area and natural light streaming through toughened glass panels, the indoor section also includes integrated cameras for video analysis, ensuring training continues regardless of time or weather.
