In a supportive move aimed at ensuring a smooth transition to international cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly decided to allow Sooryavanshi’s parents to accompany him on the tours to Ireland and England. His father, Sanjeev Sooryavanshi, and mother, Aarti Sooryavanshi, are expected to travel with him during his early days in the Indian senior setup.
Sooryavanshi’s mother has played a crucial role in his journey, managing his daily routine, training schedule, and nutrition from as early as 3:00 AM each day. During the IPL, the youngster was often seen celebrating milestones with an “A” gesture, dedicated to acknowledging his mother’s sacrifices behind his success.
His father has also been instrumental in shaping his career, reportedly selling farmland and travelling long distances multiple times a week to support his cricket training and development.
While Sooryavanshi is no stranger to international exposure—currently featuring with India A in Sri Lanka for a tri-series involving Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A—the step up to senior international cricket presents a far bigger challenge. The presence of his parents is expected to provide emotional stability during this crucial phase.
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar also praised the youngster’s rapid rise during the squad announcement press conference, stating that Sooryavanshi essentially “picked himself” through consistent performances.
“His performances—he almost forced us to pick him. Two IPLs in a row and his Under-19 record show the kind of talent he has. We’re hopeful he continues to show the same ability at the highest level,” Agarkar said.
